Stevenage businesswoman, Dannie Westbury-Barnes definitely had lady luck on her side when she managed to scoop the Full House National Bingo Game prize worth a grand total of £50,000, at Beacon Bingo Cricklewood in November.
When asked about her amazing win; Dannie said; ‘It was amazing to win the national game, and a complete shock. It got down to the final chance to win the big jackpot prize, and as I pointed at my machine my number was called. I wasn’t sure if I’d won the big jackpot or the smaller one until it was confirmed, it was all very surreal! I went straight outside to phone my husband and tell him what I’d won.”
“The other players were all cheering and clapping for me, and a lot came up to congratulate me afterwards which was lovely – it really is like one big family. I’ve decided to split the prize money with my mum and sister, who were both there with me on the night.”
The National Bingo Game is a multiple game of bingo operated by the National Bingo Association that has been running since 1986. It is played twice daily (except Christmas Day) with approximately 260 clubs participating in the afternoon game and 300 clubs in the evening. The biggest prize ever won on a national game was an eye-watering £1.3 million in 2008.
Dannie added; “My children and I were going to America to visit a family friend over Christmas, but after this win the rest of the family have decided to join us! It’s the first Christmas since my grandson was born in September, so it will be lovely to have the whole family together at Christmas.”
Steve Lightfoot, general manager at Beacon Bingo in Cricklewood said: “We were all absolutely ecstatic for Dannie! To win the jackpotin the National Bingo Game, which is played by such a huge number of other clubs, is very special for us. It was a really great moment.”
